“So how do I start neutralizing my property?” is a question we are often asked. Well, the first thing to do is to walk through your front door and try to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is seeing it for the first time.
What you are trying to do is let your property appeal to the widest possible range of people. You may live with what you love, but that doesn’t mean it’s the right option for the current market.
Calming soothing neutral tones create an atmosphere of well- being, cover a multitude of sins such as uneven walls, and allow people to see the space and imagine their own possessions there. Or if it’s a rental they can picture themselves relaxing and letting stress flow away. Feature walls in very bright primary colours are a personal choice and if it’s someone’s least favourite colour then you may lose a potential sale or rental. Many people just can’t see past what is in front of them or don’t want to take on paint jobs.
We suggest you visit paint shops and look at the colour samples. Paint suppliers have colour swatch cards to inspire you. Flick through interior magazines or look online at sites like Pinterest and Houzz and look at images that have that light but calming feeling.
